Meet the Gill Street Residence Assistants
My name is Shay and I’ll be your senior RA at Gill Street this year. I’m a BSc Exercise Nutrition & Health Undergrad going into my final year. This is my fourth year in Nottingham so I’m very familiar with different aspects of the city and university life and my second year as an RA.
You can speak to me about any questions, dilemmas or concerns you may have with regards to adjusting to university life – I am happy to help wherever I can. I came to university a couple of years later than my friends, so I know the struggle of not knowing what path you want to go into in life. I’ve dealt with different aspects of mental and financial difficulties so can give tips on the many resources available and general financial advice too. I’m also really into mindfulness for anyone who’s interested in yoga or meditation as they’re great tools when you’re overwhelmed or need to relax.
My hobbies include fitness, travel, reading, podcasting and general socialising as I love a good chat. Studying my course means I'm quite knowledgeable about health and fitness and am more than happy to help you with any questions regarding fitness and sports.
Hi, I'm Beth. I'm a second year Psychology student and one of the RA's this year. I know the first few weeks of uni can seem overwhelming, if you feel like that you're not alone and I'm always here for a chat. It's our job to help you settle in and feel supported during your time in halls. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hi I'm Lewis & I'm a 3rd year Broadcast Journalism student. My advice is to talk to as many people as possible & to get involved with societies, I joined Funky Fresh Collective & Trent TV in my 1st year, it was the best decision I've ever made & really enriched my university experience! Remember, the RA's are here to help with any issues and problems you have whilst here at uni, so don't be shy to come & talk to us, we're here for a reason & we're all really friendly!
Hey! My name is Ellie and I will be one of your RA’s this academic year at Gill Street. My role revolves around offering advice and support in all aspects of your journey at university. I am entering my final year of studying Marketing. This will be my second year in my role as an RA. I enjoy going to the gym and relaxing with my friends. A problem shared is a problem halved so please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the other RA’s with any questions or enquiries you have.
Hi there! My name is Jeremy Camilleri and I’m from Malta. My role as an RA is to provide support to all residents of Gill Street and to create a sense of community within the accommodation.
When I’m not busy doing last minute work I am most likely in my room watching Netflix. It’s my second year being an RA so don’t be hesitant in contacting me or the rest of the team with any issues or concerns that you may have.
Hi, my name is Megan, I am a second year psychology student and one of Gill Street's RA team. I stayed in Gill Street last year and have moved to Nottingham from Essex so I am aware of how intimidating moving away from familiar surroundings can be! If you have any questions or would just like a chat about anything then please contact me and let me know (I love a chat!). I look forward to meeting you all.
