Community Organising in Action
Overview
Community-led responses are crucial in times of crisis, and better suited to generate solutions that are more inclusive and responsive to local lived realities and differences.
This project explores how Community Action Networks in South Africa navigated the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion as they responded to the Covid-19 pandemic and lock-down measures.
The aim is to better understand how existing and emerging boundaries shape informal organising practices, and how different forms or organising reinforce, blur and/or subvert social and spatial boundaries.
Potential impact:
The work will contribute to scholarships on informal and alternative forms of organising, with implications for building accountability and trust across diverse communities.
