Career overview

Andrew is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and specialises in town planning education. Working with a wide range of professionals he teaches planning practice, consultancy and theory, helping to positively shape the careers of future built environment practitioners.

Particular teaching interests include sustainability, urban design, rural planning and heritage.

Before teaching in higher education Andrew gained extensive professional experience, working for over a decade as a town planner across the East Midlands. This includes roles in Local Authorities, focused on planning policy and enforcement, and as a senior planning consultant representing a wide range of clients with a specialism in residential development. More recently Andrew has worked as a planning adviser for the National Trust.

Research areas

Member of the Rural Geography Research Group, with a research interest in rural policy and communities.

External activity

Andrew is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and a member of the RTPI East Midlands Regional Activities Committee.
