Career overview

Andrew is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and leads on development and town planning education at postgraduate level. Working with a wide range of professionals he teaches planning practice, consultancy and theory, helping to positively shape the careers of future built environment practitioners.

Particular teaching interests include urban design, rural planning and heritage.

Before teaching in higher education Andrew gained extensive professional experience, working for twelve years as a town planner across the East Midlands. This includes roles in Local Authorities, focused on planning policy and enforcement, and as a senior planning consultant representing a wide range of clients with a specialism in residential development.

Research areas

Member of the Rural Geography Research Group, with a research interest in rural policy and communities.

External activity

Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute East Midlands Regional Activities Committee.
