Role

Dr Manu is an Associate Professor in Quantity Surveying and Project Management at the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment. His teaching duties are in the areas of project initiation, procurement and cost studies, contract administration and contract practice. He also supervises PhD research projects and has examined doctoral thesis in other universities. He engages in research consultancy, both in the UK and internationally. He is a member of the Association for Project Management (APM) and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

Career overview

Prior to joining Nottingham Trent University, Dr Manu worked as a Research Associate and Lecturer (Part-time) at the University of Wolverhampton. He has previously worked in private practice as a Quantity Surveyor, where he developed expertise in contract administration, procurement and tendering and cost management.

Dr Manu’s research interest cover the following areas:

  • Smart and Digital Processes for Performance Improvements

He has recently collaborated with industry partners to lead a successful research and consultancy project totalling circa £0.9m. This project focuses on supply chain performance improvement through procurement. Some of his previously completed research projects include the INTERREG IVB NW Europe funded C2CBIZZ project totalling circa €9M (2011 – 2015). This project focused on implementing Cradle to Cradle® principles (sustainability paradigm) in the built environment.

Dr Manu’s research has resulted in publications that include technical reports, chapters in books, and refereed articles in conference proceedings and journals. The journals he has published in include highly ranked journals such as the International Journal of Project Management, International Journal of Urban Sustainable Development, Construction Innovation, Construction Economics and Building (formerly known as the Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building). In 2016, he received the Wiley Blackwell best technical paper award at the Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) annual conference.
