Career overview

Toby Ebbs is the Heritage & Conservation Expert within Property Management & Development.

Toby works part time at NTU and delivers all Heritage & Conservation modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Toby also works part time as a Heritage Consultant and advises a number of Local Authorities as a Conservation Officer.

He is also a Trustee of the City of Nottingham Historic Building Preservation Trust who undertake grant-aided repairs of historic buildings. In his part time, Toby is one-half of Zig Zag Tours, a specialist Nottingham based walking and cycling tour company that focus on architectural history.

Toby has worked in heritage and conservation for the last ten years, before this he was a secondary school history teacher and taught overseas, including Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Spain. He has an undergraduate degree in History, a Masters degree in Estate Management (RICS) and a Masters degree in Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).

Research areas

Urban History, 18th and 19th century British political, economic and social history, conservation and retrofit of historic buildings, enabling development.
