Stephanie Parr

Senior Lecturer

Nottingham School of Art & Design

Role

Steph Parr is a Senior Lecturer in BA Graphic Design working across years 1, 2 and 3.

She graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Visual Communication. Steph’s visual practice and research are informed by the act of drawing rather than the finished outcome. She uses observational drawing to examine the mundane, finding meaning in non-meaning.

Career overview

Prior to working at NTU, Steph was a lecturer in Illustration and Graphic Design at Sheffield Hallam University. Before this she was a freelance illustrator and co-owner of homewares label, Home Slice Designs, stockists included Liberty, Heals and Selfridges.

Research areas

The communicative act of drawing.

External activity

As part of her ongoing research, Steph runs a regular external workshop called 'Can’t Draw Club', which challenges perceptions of skill, and access, utilising drawing as a method of dialogue.
