Teagan Ball is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Animation course at Nottingham Trent University. She has been teaching on the course since it started and has supported the courses growth and continued development, bringing knowledge of industry and animation fundamentals. Her teaching is focused on enhancing the student experience and fostering a creative, inclusive learning environment.

Teagan holds a BA (Hons) in Animation, a PGCHPE, Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and a recent Master’s in Animation with a focus on immersive VR storytelling. Early in her career, she was selected for the PLOT Animation bursary scheme, where her work was showcased at animation festivals in London and Los Angeles. Her professional background includes working as a multimedia developer, Flash animator, freelance animator, and 2D digital illustrator, creating engaging content for children’s educational games and media. Alongside her industry practice, Teagan has consistently developed her teaching expertise through roles as a Higher Education Associate Lecturer, Short Course Tutor, and Hourly Paid Lecturer. She brings this rich blend of creative and pedagogical experience into the classroom, offering students real-world insights and fostering a dynamic, supportive learning environment.
Research areas
Teagan’s research interests include reflective thinking in creative practice, storytelling in animation, and immersive animation in virtual reality. Her recent project, Rabbit in The Dark (2025), explores the creation of animated artwork within VR environments, examining how immersive spaces can transform narrative engagement and audience experience. This was showcased at the NTU Research and Innovation Conference 2025, where she spoke about the creation process and its impact on skills development from 2D to 3D workflows.
External activity
Teagan is passionate about teaching animation and staying current with the demands of the animation industry and education. She actively attends conferences and engages with opportunities to explore innovation and technology in the creative industries, trends in the animation industry, children’s media and creative pedagogy to ensure her teaching remains innovative, relevant, and inspiring.
