Role
Jane Vickers is a Senior Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). She is currently Course Leader for and teaches on the Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes course. She also designs and delivers bespoke In-sessional Academic English sessions within the School of Art & Design.
Career overview
Jane's career in English Language Teaching (ELT) spans 25 years. She initially taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in private language schools in Brighton and Wimbledon. Subsequently she held a position at Royal Holloway, University of London where she coordinated the In-sessional programme and contributed to the design of teaching materials. Following her relocation to Nottingham, she was joint lead for the General English programme at Nottingham College and delivered sessions on their Foundation Programme. A similar role ensued at Loughborough College prior to joining the Pre-sessional Management Team at NTU in June 2019.
Jane has an MA in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics from King’s College, London and the Cambridge RSA Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Jane's interests include using creative teaching practices to engage learners and encourage participation; materials design; and community building in an online synchronous classroom; .
