Dr Yan Wang is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship & Innovation in the Department of Management at Nottingham Trent University, where she also serves as the Assistant Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Business Management and Entrepreneurship program.

Career overview

With a strong passion for entrepreneurship education, Yan is dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and the business world, ensuring that students are well-equipped to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Before joining NTU, Yan was the Course Leader for the Business Entrepreneurship program at the University of Northampton, where she successfully led the development and delivery of comprehensive entrepreneurship courses and modules. Her teaching portfolio includes a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, specialising in entrepreneurship, innovation, small business issues, and creativity.

Yan’s research expertise encompasses SME cluster formation, regional development, new venture creation, and family business. She has been involved in several national and international research projects, broadening her interests to include entrepreneurial finance, crowdfunding, entrepreneurial learning, social enterprise, new venture creation in emerging economies, and female entrepreneurship.

Additionally, she possesses extensive experience supervising dissertations and projects in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Master's, DBA, and PhD candidates. Her commitment to fostering a rich learning environment and supporting student research is a cornerstone of her educational philosophy.
