Role

Laura works as a Senior Academic Practice Developer within the Centre for Academic Development and Quality (CADQ). She heads up the Trent Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) community which involves leading on all TILT Schemes &  Awards, TILT Practice & Scholarship Groups and the NTU Annual Learning & Teaching Conference. Laura also supports the development of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at NTU providing development opportunities for colleagues as they progress through their career at NTU.

Career overview

Laura has a BA (Hons) degree in Human Resource Management (with French to BA level.)

Laura started at NTU in 2018 as a Project Officer where she worked closely with a range of colleagues including UET, Academic Practice and the FE provision at Brackenhurst.

Laura previously worked as a Programme Delivery Manager in the Midlands for the EDT (Engineering Development Trust) who are the largest provider of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) enrichment activities for UK youth where she was the national lead for events within the school programmes team. She also spent 5 years working for the BBC where she gained valuable experience within the media industry.

Laura is passionate about working with colleagues to support them in their learning and teaching journey at NTU offering development opportunities through TILT.

Laura is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

External activity

Laura is a Director (Organisation and Events) for the National Teaching Repository and is a committee member of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSoTL) Recognition Committee.
