Role

Katie is part of the NLS Legal Operational Management Team and leads the Family Law Service. Katie currently supervises students and provides family law advice and representation to clients on a range of issues such as divorce and separation, financial remedies and private law children matters.

Career overview

Katie began working in family law in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2008. She then practiced at a Legal 500 law firm in London, providing specialist family law advice and advocacy services. Katie moved to Nottingham Law School in 2012 to focus on teaching, and worked for 9 years as a senior lecturer teaching family law, civil litigation, skills, and contract law. Katie was the Deputy Course Leader for the part time Legal Practice Course and held several module leaderships. Alongside her academic commitments, Katie volunteered in NLS Legal, providing family law advice. In September 2021 Katie moved to NLS Legal to work as a solicitor on a full time basis, and expanded the Family Law Service.

Katie is a member of Resolution, an organisation of family lawyers committed to providing a non-confrontational, conciliatory approach to family matters.
