Role
Senior Lecturer - Course Leader for BEng/MEng Mechanical Engineering
Career overview
Dr Abdellatif Abdelgaied is a Senior Lecturer and course leader for BEng/MEng Mechanical Engineering. He earned his PhD at the School of Mechanical Engineering - University of Leeds.
Dr Abdelgaied has over 12 years of experience in the medical devices field working, in collaboration with industry, on new product development, sustainable design and evaluation of medical devices, with the aim to advance engineering solutions to the arthritis problem and enhance the performance and durability of different medical devices.
His major research interests are the sustainable design of medical devices, 3D printing, experimental and computational evaluation of biomaterials, experimental and computational simulation methods, contact mechanics and tribology, and soft tissues and tissue scaffolds.
Dr Abdelgaied is a member of the CH/150/04 Surgical Implants – Bone and Joint Replacements BSI committee, providing expertise to create standards for the benefit of industry and the public and engage in discussions about the strategic direction of emerging and priority areas of standards-making.
