Role

Chen is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. His teaching specialisms are cloud computing, computer systems, networking and software engineering.

Other responsibilities include student tutor and supervision, research and grant application. His research includes system for AI, AI for system, computer networking and Edge AIs.

Career overview

Between 2022 and 2025, Chen was a postdoctoral researcher with the System Research Group, Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge. Chen is also a Senior Member at St Edmund's College, Cambridge University.

Chen has extensive experience collaborating with academia and industries such as Uni of Cambridge, Uni of Oslo, Illinois Tech, Uni of Oregon, National Research Council of Italy, Uni of Bologna and etc. Industrial partners include Telefónica, Siemens, Infineon, EMS-UK, National Physical Lab and many others. Chen’s research is mostly funded by UKRI and EU Horizon.

Research areas

Chen's research interests are broadly in areas of System for AI, Serverless Computing, Cloud/Edge Computing, Networking, and Distributed Systems. His current work focuses on the System for LLMs, aiming to optimize the token throughput and latency by using techniques such as token scheduling at the iteration level.

I am actively accepting motivated and talented PhD students to join my research group and contribute to topics such as AI for system, system for AI, and Edge AI. Please send an email if you are interested.
