Role
Emily is a Senior Exercise and Health Practitioner who is responsible for the development and delivery of the exercise referral programme offered by the Sports and Wellbeing Academy. Emily mentors, guides, and supports students who undertake placement in the academy to gain hands on experience of delivering safe and effective clinical exercise to participants living in the local community. Emily is also responsible for the delivery of sports performance exercise and rehabilitation for the elite University sports teams and collaborates with local schools to increase participants in physical activity and sports.
Career overview
Prior to working for NTU Emily started work in the health and wellbeing industry as a personal trainer and went onto achieve a BSc Hons in Nutrition where she worked in the local community as a nutritionist and physical activity specialist. Through this work Emily gained experience supporting, motivating, and guiding people to make positive and sustainable behaviour changes which enabled them to achieve their goals.
Emily progressed to become a Project Lead supporting the development and implementation of the integrated wellbeing service across the south of Nottinghamshire. She gained experience of managing, coaching, and leading a team of healthy lifestyle advisors and smoking cessation advisors. Most recently Emily worked as a health and wellbeing coach for the NHS delivering healthy lifestyle and behaviour change interventions to support students and staff at the University of Nottingham.
