Role

Lauren is a Senior Exercise and Health Practitioner who is responsible for the development and delivery of the exercise referral programme offered by the Sports and Wellbeing Academy. She mentors, guides, and supports students who undertake placement in the academy to gain hands on experience of delivering safe and effective clinical exercise to participants living in the local community. Lauren is also responsible for supporting students on practical nutrition workshops and collaborates with local schools to increase participants in physical activity and sports.

Career overview

After completing her BSc (Hons) in Sport Science with Management, Lauren began her career as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, delivering a wide range of group classes and one‑to‑one sessions. Through this work, she developed strong skills in motivating, empowering, and supporting individuals to adopt sustainable lifestyle and behaviour changes that enabled them to achieve their personal health and wellbeing goals.

Lauren’s most recent role was with ABL Health, where she initially worked as a Healthy Lifestyle Advisor delivering community‑based interventions, including adult weight management, falls prevention, and cancer prehabilitation. This role provided extensive experience working with a diverse range of specialist populations while expanding her knowledge and gaining additional professional qualifications.

She later progressed into the position of Community Falls Coordinator Lead, working closely with service commissioners to develop and enhance strength and balance interventions across the South Nottinghamshire area. This role strengthened her expertise in programme development, service improvement, and collaborative working within public health and community settings.
