Role

Andrea is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and teaches modules on the BA Criminology and BA Sociology. She is the Department of Social and Political Sciences' co-lead (with Sharon Hutchings) for Service Learning.  This involves working with a wide range of local not-for-private profit organisations on social justice action and research projects with second year students. She is currently researching food poverty in Nottingham working with local charities.

External activity

Andrea works with over 25 local not for profit organisations as part of her Service Learning role.  Along with student representatives from NTU, a steering group of these local partners helps to guide the strategic direction of Service Learning.

Sponsors and collaborators

Andrea is currently working with colleagues and students in the Department of Social Work at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht, the Netherlands.  They are working together to share best practice in welcoming first year students in to higher education through a series of exchanges, joint presentations and conference appearances.  In May/June 2017 Andrea will take a group of Sociology students from NTU to Maastricht to develop this collaboration and student-staff partnership further (with funding won from the Trent Institute of Learning and Teaching).
