Role

In Melanie’s current role she heads NTU Sport’s performance programme, leading a team of performance coaches, personal development practitioners and NTU’s scholarship officer to deliver a programme which attracts and develops young athletes across a range of sports. Melanie leads on NTU's dual career accreditation and academic flexibility policy, ensuring NTU’s performance athletes are able to manage the competing demands of their academic and sporting commitments. Additionally, Melanie is NTU’s TASS lead, overseeing a team of sport science practitioners to provide support to external student-athletes.

Career overview

Melanie began her career in advertising, leading commercial sales teams before making the switch into sport. She has previously held an operational role at the UK Institute of Sport working with Olympic and Paralympic sporting programmes and has additionally worked as a sport psychology consultant to clients across various sports. Prior to her current role Melanie ran NTU’s sport scholarship programme.

External activity

Melanie holds an undergraduate degree in psychology, a master’s degree in sport & exercise psychology and a qualification in talented athlete support. She has recently completed an MBA at NTU as part of the senior leader’s apprenticeship scheme.
