About the degree transfer programme
Our flagship LLB is at the heart of our course portfolio, enabling students to study Law modules which are of vital interest in the modern world. We offer several ways for students studying at the University of London to transfer to Nottingham Trent University to finish their degree.
The degree transfer offers a one-year and a two-year entry route:
- Select the one-year route to join us for the final year of your studies (2+1).
- Select the two-year route to join us for your second and final year of your LLB (1+2).
The degree transfer programme provides students with an excellent foundation in Law, developing key intellectual, practical, and legal skills required for successful employment, or for further study on postgraduate and professional courses.
Course information and assessment
Our Law degrees provide the vital skills and knowledge that are required for progression onto the BTC and are valued by employers. They incorporate commercial awareness, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, advocacy, research, negotiation and organisational skills.
Compulsory modules for UK Qualifying Law Degree:
- Law of Trusts and Applied Legal Analysis
- Path to Professional Practice
- Plus four modules of your choice
About the optional modules:
Module information and how you're taught
Each module is delivered through a series of lectures and seminars that provide an opportunity to enhance your understanding of Law. You will make use of eLearning activities with a big focus on project work.
The application of your legal knowledge will develop as the course progresses and your performance will be assessed through a diverse range of methods that reflect your skills.
You will take part in exercises that include:
- oral presentations
- mooting exercises
- case analysis
- research projects
- group projects
- problem-solving assignments
- both seen and unseen examinations.

For the two-year route to join us for your second and final year of your LLB (1+2):
- Pass Year 1 of the University of London LLB for advanced entry into Year 2 of the NTU LLB programme.
For the one-year route to join us for the final year of your studies (2+1).
- Pass Year 1 and Year 2 at University of London with an average aggregate of 45% for advanced entry into Year 3 of the NTU LLB programme.
You will also need to demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge of written and spoken English before starting the course.
We usually require one of the following:
- IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill;
- UCLES GCE O Level (GCE-O) 1119 English language (awarded in 2020 or earlier) – Grade C.
- If your qualification was awarded after 2020, please contact us for further information.
- an equivalent English language qualification.

Tuition fees for 2025/26 entry
The fee for 2026/25 entry is set at £17,950.
We offer a £4,000 fee discount to students joining Nottingham Law School from one of our partner institutions. These include: London College of Legal Studies (South); Bhuiyan Academy; London College of Legal Studies (North).
The University reviews and sets tuition fee levels annually. You can also visit your course page for the most up-to-date information on course fees.
Scholarships and discount schemes
We offer scholarships of up to 50% off the tuition fee. You can apply for a scholarship when you have an offer to study at NTU.

NLS alumni discount
- For September 2025 entry, we’re happy to be able to offer a 20% discount to most current NTU students and recent alumni progressing to any academic Master’s course.
- For most Professional Courses, including the BTC, starting in September 2025, we are pleased to be able to offer a £1,000 tuition fee reduction to eligible alumni.
