Sport and Wellbeing Academy
The core aim of the Sport and Healthy Lifestyle Academy is to be at the heart of health and wellbeing in the local community and to promote and enable people to lead healthier lifestyles.
It gives our students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the health and fitness industry and enables us to work with local communities to promote a culture of healthy eating and active lifestyles which enhances physical and mental wellbeing.
Newly-appointed exercise practitioners, university researchers and students will combine to make this a safe, welcoming and dedicated space.
Sport and exercise science at NTU has rapidly evolved over recent years and this is an opportunity to bring together our world-leading expertise and state-of-the-art equipment to create a real impact in the community.
Elements of the Academy
The Sport and Wellbeing Academy has three main themes.
Exercise Referral
The academy will provide a free bespoke consultancy service and will play a key role in helping to reduce local health inequalities around physical activity and healthy eating. Patients will be referred directly to the academy at the Clifton Campus
School Sport and Physical Activity
The academy will help to facilitate local provision of ‘The Daily Mile’, a school-based physical activity and will get involved in coaching multi-sports and specialist sports in schools.
Supporting NTU Sport
NTU sports teams which compete in British Universities and Colleges Sport will benefit from support in areas such as strength and conditioning, performance and biomechanical analysis.
