“My workplace offered me the opportunity to apply for this course. I was really excited and grateful for the opportunity, as I have always wanted to study, gain new knowledge and improve my skills.
“The course covers several knowledge units including HACCP, food science and microbiology as well as several competency units in food safety, health and safety, new product development and quality control.
“This apprenticeship covers all the necessary units for an individual to be able to work with food whether it’s in food manufacturing or catering. There are three teaching blocks per year with lectures and practicals in food and chemistry labs.
“So far I have enjoyed the law modules as I’m really interested in legislation. I have also enjoyed practical tests in the chemistry lab and HACCP lectures.
“I am really happy with our lecturers and tutors- they are all very knowledgeable, supportive and engaging."
