More about Isabelle

Why did you choose to study your course at NTU?

I like the way that the course is set out and having the opportunity to do placement over the summer. I also like that you can live on campus and make use of the facilities. Brackenhurst has a very friendly feel to it.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

I enjoy having in person lectures where I can work with my classmates and get involved with workshops. I also enjoy the practical sessions that are provided as it helps to apply the content learnt in the lectures and get a sense of what I will be doing when out in practice.

How do you find your modules and what have you most enjoyed studying?

I have enjoyed all modules thus far some are easier than others, my favourite modules from first year was anatomy and essential veterinary nursing skills.

What do you think about the facilities available on your course and what do you use the most?

The facilities available for my course are great there are lots of resources available on the now page and the Veterinary nursing centre has great facilities that can be used.

What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?

I really enjoy being here on Brackenhurst as I like the countryside feel to it there are lots of walks to do as well as exploring into Southwell and making use of the leisure centre there.  The orangery and library are both great facilities as well as Brack bar especially on a Friday night. Brackenhurst is like a home away from home.

What is your top tip for someone considering studying/living at Brackenhurst Campus?

You should come to Brackenhurst campus it has great facilities, and everyone is so friendly that you will end up being friends with half the campus. Fluid Fridays is a terrific way to socialise as well as going to wellbeing Wednesdays. There are some great pubs in Southwell and only a short ride bus ride into the city for a day out. Many supermarkets deliver to campus and there is the Co-op, One Stop in Southwell and a great Chinese as well.

Have you been involved in any placements, work experience or volunteering as part of your course? If so, what did you do and what did you achieve?

As part of the Veterinary nursing course, you do placement after first year, I found this extremely helpful and really improved my confidence. It was also great to experience this as I came away from it still wanting to continue with my degree. During this placement I was able to complete the necessary percentage on my nursing progress log and I got involved with many different patients and clients.

Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?

The lecturers are so friendly and have much knowledge so I would recommend making the most of the lectures and the practical's as well as the resources that they provide you with on the Now page.  The library also provides many books and resources to help you with your studies.

What are your plans for after the course and how do you feel your course has/ will help you to achieve that goal?

After I finish my course, I will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse so I will be able to work alongside the Veterinarians in practice. I would like to use this degree to go to Australia and experience working in a practice there.

Any additional comments?
