Why NTU…

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

After deciding full-time education wasn’t for me, I went to NTU to complete my funded degree, while gaining valuable industry experience.

What did you think about the course staff? How did they support your learning and university experience?

The course staff were all friendly, supportive, and welcoming. They pushed me to get my head down and helped me embrace my passion and interest in the course.

What was your favourite aspect of the course?

The people! I have made some great friends along the way and made lots of memories. Whether it’s getting our head down in the library with a meal deal or going on holiday with people I met that same year.

Tell us a little bit about your career since leaving NTU.

My career feels like it has been catapulted forward, leaving university with 5 years of industry experience has opened so many doors. I’m leading teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions and actively making a positive impact on the built environment, which is incredibly rewarding. I have had the opportunity to work on airports, temples, schools, docks, and make my mark on the world.

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

Develop your career quicker and have fun doing it.

What has been your career highlight so far? How did what you learnt at NTU help you get there?

Winning the international emerging engineers award, along with various black-tie dinners and being inspired by key players in the construction industry.  NTU gave me confidence, curiosity, and a passion for learning, which remains a key part of my current and future success.

What is your biggest piece of advice to current students and those graduating this year?

Don’t underestimate the work but don’t let it overwhelm you either. Always remember everyone on the course is undergoing the same pressure so have each other’s back.
