Why NTU…
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
NTU offered a Property Development and planning course which caught my eye in Year 13 because i hadn’t heard of it before. Even though it is so important, you don’t learn about property in school which is why I chose to study it at university, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
What do you think about the course staff? How do they support your learning and university experience?
The course has staff who have been in the industry which makes it so much easier to learn because it puts a more realistic perspective on theories rather than just academic. The staff are always encouraging us to go a step further and ensuring we attend as much as possible.
Does the “real” NTU match what you’d imagined? How does it compare with your friends’ experience at other universities?
NTU is even better than I thought it would be. Being on the city campus makes it really easy to mix my social life with university. The facilities are always improving too, with so many places to go study you never get bored.
With the nature of my course, we often go on site visits and being in Nottingham City Centre there are loads of period properties as well as new builds, meaning we get to know a lot about the city including what projects may be going ahead in the near future.
How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?
It’s the perfect city for University and Socialising.
About the future...
What’s next for you after NTU?
The course has lined me up to complete my APC so I can become a chartered surveyor but before I do that I’d like to take a year out and travel to the middle east to learn about the culture, maybe even do some property related work over there.
Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?
Yes, we had a module in second year where we completed our CV, cover letter and some mock interview questions so we know what to expect when we begin taking on graduate job interviews.
