So I'm Maria Serdyuk and I'm currently in my last year of the animation course at Nottingham Trent University.

So my final major project is a look development piece in 3D. So it's a walkthrough set in a 1930s cabaret, just showcasing a bunch of my 3D modelling characters. Naturally, due to the encouragement from my peers and tutors to collaborate, I've had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with a bunch of talented individuals for my projects, like all the way from music production, general production to environment modelling. Yeah, that's been like the most fun part.

My main source of inspiration is the people around me. The way people carry themselves, their faces, their expressions, their style can say so much about the lives that they've lived. So that's always been my main source of inspo.

People on my course, I mean, a lot of them have become what I would like to think, to be my lifelong friends. It just transformed me in the nicest way possible and I have no regrets. I’m very happy I've met them all.

I mean, initially moving abroad was really scary, moving away from my family and friends, but it was honestly scary how fast Nottingham felt like home. The art community is always buzzing with constant exhibitions like the contemporary museum, Bonington and just general live drawing workshops around the city.
