Student Spotlight - Tasha Montague - BA (Hons) Animation

My final project is a thesis film. It's a 2D animation and I chose to do it about death. So I want to sort of explain what it feels like to realise what death is for the first time.

My film is 2D animated, It's hand drawn and rigged. So I'm creating it in Toon Boom Harmony, which is an industry standard software. The main character is hand drawn, which means for every single frame that she's in, I have to draw it from scratch, which means it takes a lot of time. But luckily for me, it's something that I really enjoy and something I'm really excited to finish.

The thing I'm most proud of is just how much work I've put into the film. I just feel proud that everything that I've accomplished, not just this year, but my whole time at university has sort of come together to create this film that hopefully I'm going to be really proud of, and that I can show, not just to my family and friends, but also, like, prospective employers.

One of the things I worried about when applying to university was whether the course would be industry standard, but I feel really confident in my choice with NTU because the facilities are so great. We use software that's used on a lot of my favourite animations that inspired me to start animating in the first place. So it's something I feel really confident about.
