More about Emily
Emily studied BA (Hons) Business (Sandwich) course.
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
Before attending university I, like most, wasn’t sure what I wanted to study and so selected a course with a multitude of pathways. The nature of my course allowed for freedom and flexibility to explore a variety of areas within business. I chose NTU as I had heard through word of mouth that the city itself was amazing and full of things to do!
What has stood out about Nottingham Business School?
The sheer amount of support and clear direction within every module. The content is taught in a way that is coherent, and is the perfect balance through providing direct guidance whilst allowing you to apply it by yourself.
The variety of modules, exams and coursework really allow for you to feel engaged and inspired.
What is your favourite thing about your course?
The placement opportunity is invaluable and allows for you to apply your academic knowledge into a professional context.
How would you rate the course facilities and why?
Honestly fantastic! The variety of modules, exams and coursework really allow for you to feel engaged and inspired. The Newton building itself is always welcoming and there are plenty of areas for you to study.
Can you tell us about your placement?
Of course! During my second year I was still conflicted about what I wanted to do, and so chose to work as a recruitment consultant. I worked for a small firm called Timberseed and moved to Shoreditch which was amazing. This job taught me patience, resilience, creativity and drive, through taking on large amounts of responsibility and managing direct client relationships. I even stayed on over summer to help interview and train the new interns!
Do you have any advice for future students on how they can make the most of their time at NBS?
Take every opportunity! Throw yourself into situations you may not always feel comfortable with and challenge yourself. University is a hugely formative time of your life and through building up your skill base, you will present yourself as a hardworking and employable graduate!
What's next for you after NTU?
From September I’m working as on the marketing graduate program at Lidl! I’ll be learning all things partnerships and social media, as well as experience in store work too - I’m so excited!
