More about Luke

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

"I chose NTU for its reputation as a leading business school and its history of placing graduates with leading organisations in a range of industries. The BA (Hons) Business course was the best fit for me as it taught a wide range of business principles and concepts in order to develop my overall knowledge, and to direct my career in particular areas of interest."

What do you think sets Nottingham Business School apart?

"There are many things that set Nottingham Business School apart, from the state-of-the-art facilities to the excellent and varied level of teaching. Through well-thought-out courses and modules, it allows students to gain an advanced knowledge of business and their specific area of study. There are exciting career prospects due to the excellent links to industry."

How would you rate the support services at NTU? Did you access any of the services, such as the Employability Team? How did they help you?

"The employability team were particularly valuable to me and helped me secure both a placement position as well as a high-quality graduate position. There was proactive and useful employability advise from an early point in my university experience which I feel allowed me to enhance my overall employability and personal development immensely."

What job are you currently doing and what does it involve? How did you go about getting the position?

"I am currently a Product Specialist for leading international specialist chemical provider Lubrizol. This is a rotational program offering exposure in product management, sales and marketing functions before progressing to a commercial role. My current role focuses on product management support to deliver enhanced insights, trends and collateral to support the strategic direction of the commercial vehicle lubricants business unit.

I applied for this role through NTU’s employability site. Despite unusual circumstances this year, I was able to progress through several stages in the recruitment process including a virtual assessment centre and a chance to visit Lubrizol’s UK base."

What would your advice be to those who have recently graduated and are looking for roles?

"Explore all opportunities and really focus on demonstrating your unique skills and capabilities gained from studying at NTU. Although the current climate is tough for job searching there is still many exciting opportunities for graduates."
