More about Megan

What made you choose to study at NTU?

“I joined NTU after recommendations from my teachers and their high regard for the University. Originally, I came to study photography, however, once I had joined NTU the success of the Business School inspired me to change my degree to Business. The flexibility of the University allowed for this change.”

What do you enjoy most about your course?

“It is not just about learning the theories within the Business industry, the course offers so many other opportunities, such as volunteering, employability sessions, study abroad and challenges. This really helps you become commercially aware. For example, plastics are a current issue within the environment and NTU launched projects and course aspects which help you consider the impacts of plastics.”

What do you think about the course staff – include lecturers, tutors, administrators and technical staff within this. How do they support your learning and University experience?

“For every need you have, there is someone to help you. Alongside lecturers and tutors we had an Academic Tutor to signpost us to the correct team. Furthermore, I was able to gain personal support and academic advice from mentors at the library. There are also student services, which advice with finding accommodation. Employability also advise on CV’s and finding work. The variety of support creates a network of support for the students.”

What opportunities have you had as a result of studying with NBS? How have these activities contributed to your university experience?

“I am a Cert Mentor and a Student Ambassador. I have Volunteered and studied abroad. I participated in NBS giveback week, Accler8t, £10 challenge and the NBS Seachange. These experiences have made me grow in confidence and have come out of my shell, which was imperative for me. Meeting new people and working in groups has taught me key communication skills which I can apply in a work environment.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you?

“The facilities are brilliant everything is very modern and convenient. The tram runs straight through the campus. The library is huge and there are lots of different study areas to suit your needs. Also, there is even a rooftop garden!”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?

“It’s a great city to live in and is really lively with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. It stands out from other cities with its high level of independent business, beautiful green spaces so close to the centre as well as music venues. There’s something for everyone and it cultures the ‘work hard play hard’ atmosphere.”

Why would you recommend your course / NTU to someone looking to study in that area?

“I believe NBS is one of the best business schools in the UK because they show a commitment to giving students opportunities. This means you can get not only a good grade, but also increase your chance of securing a job. You really have a chance here, at NTU, to stand out from the crowd.”
