More about Megan

What made you choose to study at NTU?

“The amazing student satisfaction NTU has along with the facilities available, opportunities offered to students, city location, choice of sports and societies, ranking for my course and the friendliness of staff and students at open days.”

What were the key features that attracted you to your course?

“The opportunity to gain a degree with accreditation with professional bodies such as the ACCA, CIMA and ICAEW. The course content was also very appealing; including accounting modules with business, law and employability-based units.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you? :

“The facilities offered by NTU are great, with 24/7 independent and group study areas, mentoring available, lots of variety of food on campus, good transport links and bookstores nearby.”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?

“I love the city, it’s social, fun and not too big. Everything is accessible, which makes living away from home feel easy! NTU and Nottingham are such friendly places. They are both great for meeting people, with lots of out-of-course opportunities and a growing business environment.”

What opportunities have you had as a result of studying with NBS? How have these activities contributed to your university experience?

“I have been lucky to be involved as a course rep, CERT mentor and given the chance to take part on a study abroad trip. These opportunities helped me gain confidence and build my leadership and organisational skills. Personally, I have developed cultural awareness and made friends all over the world. The chance to be involved with the university like this has made my experience unique and helped me grow.”

What work experience/placement have you completed? – Where you went and what you did?

“I opted for half placement half exchange during my third year. During the first half of the year I worked at BT’s Leeds office and during my exchange I studied at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. I opted for more business-based modules at Deakin, to expand my knowledge beyond accounting.”

How will your course and/or placement enhance your employability for your chosen career? What skills have you gained?

“We have compulsory personal professional development hours, which enable students to attend events and opportunities out of class. My placement taught me valuable payroll, excel, communication and presenting skills, whilst giving me an insight in BT’s culture.”
