Why did you choose NTU and this course?

I chose to study at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) because of its strong reputation in the field of Management and Business Analytics and because of the Nottingham Business School reputation. Due to a family friend’s recommendation and my personal experience, NTU is known for its innovative teaching methods, industry connections, and emphasis on practical skills development. The university’s location in Nottingham, a vibrant city with a rich history and diverse student population, also played a role in his decision.

What has stood out about NBS?

The Nottingham Business School (NBS) has stood out to me due to its excellent and ever supportive faculty members who are experts in their fields and offer valuable advice, the modern facilities available for students, and the focus on real-world applications of business analytics concepts. NBS’s strong industry links and career support services have also impressive to me.

How have you found the course facilities and have they helped you?

I have found the course facilities at NTU to be top-notch particularly the post graduate center at Belgrave. The university provides state-of-the-art classrooms, computer labs equipped with relevant software for business analytics, a well-stocked library with resources tailored to my course both online and physical at the library, with dedicated study spaces that have greatly aided his learning experience.

What is your favourite thing about your course?

My favourite aspect of the Management and Business Analytics course is the practical nature of the curriculum. I really appreciate the hands-on class and module projects, case studies, and study simulations during the professional practice modules that allow me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world business scenarios.

Have you taken part in academic mentoring? What has that involved?

Yes, I have participated in academic mentoring at NTU. This program involved regular meetings with an assigned mentor who provided guidance on academic matters, study strategies, career planning, and personal development. My mentor particularly squeezed out time outside scheduled times to attend to and guide me through the intricacies of my study experience as I struggled at first to understand the NOW app at resumption. The mentoring relationship has been instrumental in helping me navigate my academic journey successfully.

Have you done a placement as part of the course?

As part of my course requirements, I completed a placement with a reputable company in the field of business analytics. This hands-on experience allowed me to gain practical skills, network with professionals in the industry, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

How have you found Nottingham as a student city?

Nottingham has been a welcoming and vibrant student city for me. I enjoyed the diverse cultural scene, affordable living costs, convenient transportation options, and numerous social activities available for students. The city’s friendly atmosphere and student-friendly amenities have made my time at NTU enjoyable.

Has it been easy making new friends?

Meeting friends, at NTU has proven to be quite simple for me. The university provides a range of gatherings, clubs, associations and chances to network allowing me to encounter individuals who share interests but come from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, residing in proximity to the university has facilitated my interactions with fellow post-graduate students. The global lounge stands out as a gathering spot where I've had the opportunity to mingle with students, from corners of the globe pursuing studies at NTU.

Have you felt supported through your studies? 

I have felt well-supported throughout my studies at NTU. I have utilized various resources such as the Employability team for career guidance, Student Support services for personal assistance, mentors for academic advice, Industry mentor for career building, LinkedIn optimization guidance, course staff for subject-specific queries, and the Global Lounge for international student support. These resources have contributed to his academic success and overall well-being.

What is next for you after NTU?

After completing my studies at NTU, I plan to pursue a career in management consulting or data analytics. I aim to leverage the knowledge and skills gained during his time at university to make meaningful contributions in the business world.

International Students - Why did you want to study in the UK?

I was drawn to studying in the UK as an international student due to its renowned universities offering high-quality education programs recognized worldwide. The multicultural environment, exposure to diverse perspectives, English language proficiency enhancement opportunities, and potential career prospects post-graduation were all factors that influenced his decision.

Is NTU a good place for international students to study?

NTU is considered an excellent choice for international students looking to pursue their higher education goals. The university’s inclusive community, support services tailored to international students’ needs, cultural diversity on campus, strong academic programs with global recognition, and opportunities for personal growth make it a welcoming and conducive environment for international students like me.
