What made you chose Nottingham Law School for the Higher Rights of Audience course?

I did my masters at NLS so already knew that the university facilities and the quality of teaching were excellent. However, to be sure I was making the right choice I looked at a number of other providers so that I could make an informed choice.

What became very clear was that NLS stood out against other providers in every single respect :

Its tutors are genuine experts in their field. This was important to me because I wanted to learn from people who had relevant and substantial experience exercising higher rights.

The syllabus is well structured and covers everything that you need to learn in order to succeed in the assessments. You’re provided with a very wide range of materials including podcast, videos, transcripts, extracts from key texts and more. This was important because I wanted to know from the outset what my learning objectives were so that I could confidently plan my route to success. I also liked the variety of learning methods which helped bring the course to life.

The course content is delivered over a minimum of three months. This was important to me because I have a demanding job which meant I had to spread my learning out to ensure I stood the best chance of passing the assessments.

The course materials are provided in bite sized chunks and your own learning is interspersed with online and class time. This was important because I could pace my learning, which boosted my confidence with each passing module.

Because NLS is a university rather than a commercial enterprise you also benefit from access to their library and all the materials that are available online for example the White Book and Archbold.

The tutors are on hand throughout the course. This was important because I wanted to be sure my questions would be answered in a timely and helpful way. The tutors are excellent and very giving of their time. I was able to email tutors and also have teams meetings. This level of support is simply not provided elsewhere.

NLS was one of the first providers to offer the HR course. It shows in the quality of program. This is a university that genuinely cares about the quality of advocacy and it works hard to ensure that you are competent and confident to take those first steps once you pass.

NLS are the only provider with multiple court rooms on site, so when you attend for the advocacy training you’re learning and doing in what looks and feel like a real court room.  That’s an invaluable resource because it mimics the experience so closely that you genuinely get a sense of what it’s going to look and feel like in a ‘real’ court.

I thoroughly enjoyed the criminal higher rights course so when I decided to do the civil course there really only was one choice of provider and that was NLS.
