Why NTU...
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
I chose NTU because I liked the feel on campus, everyone was so friendly and wanted to engage with you. I felt very welcome from day one.
I picked the course here as again both staff and students were friendly and knowledgeable and being such a large, diverse department, the range of final year option modules here really grabbed my attention.
Could you describe your experience of being an NTU student?
My time at NTU has been amazing. I’ve met so many incredible people and have been given so many opportunities to develop as a person, both personally and professionally, through volunteering, research assistant positions, sports clubs, and societies. I’m so much more confident now than when I first joined NTU.
How would you describe the support from your tutors, university staff and student services?
Support here has been brilliant, and I’ve never felt like I couldn’t reach out whenever things have been particularly stressful or challenging. Sometimes students are afraid to ask for help due to fear, but at NTU I feel that it’s always felt safe and supportive enough for me to do so.
Outside of the lecture theatre...
What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?
Lively, diverse, friendly

Annie’s Burger Shack
Oscar & Rosie’s
Mowgli
200 Degrees Coffee
Bunk
Sneinton Market
Colwick Country Park
Wollaton Hall
Highfields Park and Boating Lake
Victoria Embankment
Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU?
I found it very easy to find friends at NTU, both on my course and through extra-curricular activities. There’s something for everyone to get involved with at NTU and I think that’s what’s made it easy for me to settle here and find my place.
The next steps...
Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?
The employability team at NTU have been great. They run a variety of helpful workshops both general and course specific as well as 1 to 1 appointments and careers fairs. Attending a wide range of these events has helped me to see what the future holds and what opportunities would best suit me after NTU.
What would you say to someone who is thinking of applying to NTU?
The environment here is great, you’ll find your place, try not to worry too much, and enjoy your time here as it goes very quickly!
What is one thing you wish you knew before starting at NTU?
Don’t be afraid to get stuck in, challenge yourself and say yes to things that scare you, as these are the things that will make up your biggest achievements and highlights. What you get out is what you put in.
