Open day travel discount and support

Discounted travel offers are available to all NTU undergraduate open day visitors.

Travel cost support up to £50

We understand that travel costs can add up. So, to make it easier for you to join us at an upcoming undergraduate open day, we're offering up to £50 in travel support, based on the distance travelled.

Check where your subject is taught before planning your journey if you're unsure which campus to visit.

Travelling by car – free and discounted parking

Save 45% on standard car parking rates at Q-Park Talbot Street (Stanley Place, Nottingham NG1 5GG) when you pre-book your parking. A 24 hour parking ticket is usually £22.05, and £12.13 with discount.

Follow these steps to access the discount:

  1. Pre-book Talbot Street parking via the Q-Park website, using unique discount code CCNTTBST45
  2. The entry and exit barriers will automatically lift upon your arrival and departure.

Park and ride – free car parking with a valid NET tram ticket

NET Trams offer free park and ride spaces with the purchase of a valid tram ticket. More information and ticket prices can be found on the NET website. The Forest (NG7 6AQ) is the closest park and ride to our City Campus.

Other parking options

  • Victoria Centre – £9.70 to £14 between 5 and 7 hours.
  • Trinity Square – £7.80 to £13 between 4 and 6 hours.

Free parking spaces (with limited electric charging facilities) are available on Clifton Campus, and the satnav postcode is NG11 8NS.

Travelling by train – free and discounted onward travel

Train ticket prices can vary depending on the exact time and operator; below you can find the typical return ticket costs for a direct train to Nottingham:

  • Sheffield: £9
  • Lincoln: £6–£12
  • Birmingham New Street: £15
  • Leeds: £14–£30
  • Manchester Piccadilly: £14–£28

You’ll arrive at Nottingham station and can continue your journey to each of our campuses.

Catch a tram serving Hucknall or Phoenix Park and ride four stops to the Nottingham Trent University tram stop. A short hop ticket costs only £1.50 when you pay by contactless at a validator. You'll need to tap on the validator before you board, and tap off on the validator when you exit the tram. Catch the Nottingham City Transport (NCT) number 1 bus from the S2 bus stop outside Nottingham train station on Carrington Street, which will drop you opposite our Clifton Campus. Show a copy of your NTU open day booking confirmation to travel on the bus for free.

Onward journey time: approximately 23 minutes.

Catch the Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Pathfinder 26 bus from the K1 bus stop on King Street, just off Old Market Square. Full fares can be found on the NCT website.

Onward journey time: approximately 1 hour.

Travelling by coach – 30% off your return ticket

Travel to our open day with National Express and save 30% off return tickets to Nottingham Broad Marsh Bus Station. Follow the link to the National Express website and use the promotion code: NTUOD30.
