Robin Hood Half Marathon 2024 Runners

On Sunday 29th September a team of 23 fundraisers laced up their running shoes to take part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon on behalf of NTU’s John van Geest Cancer Research Centre (JvGCRC).

The fundraising team, which included a number of NTU staff, students and alumni raised a fantastic £3517 for the centre.

Matt Varley (Deputy Director, Nottingham Institute of Education) shared his motivation for running on behalf of JvGCRC;

‘We at the Nottingham Institute of Education have lost a number of colleagues in recent years to cancer of one form or another. And many if not all of us reading this will have family, friends and colleagues who have faced down the challenge of a cancer diagnosis and the treatment that follows. Survival rates have improved considerably as the result of medical research, but we urgently need these improvements to continue.’

We would like to thank Matt and our team of fundraisers for their fantastic efforts. Fundraising donations make a huge difference to the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre and enable their life-changing research to continue.
