Nottingham Business School Professor Awarded Prestigious BAM Medal for Knowledge Development
We are delighted to announce that Professor Petra Molthan-Hill, Professor of Sustainable Management and Education for Sustainable Development at Nottingham Business School (NBS), has been awarded the British Academy of Management (BAM) Medal for Knowledge Development.

This prestigious honour recognises Professor Molthan-Hill’s exceptional contributions to sustainable management, particularly her pioneering work in Carbon Literacy across business schools and beyond. The BAM Medal for Knowledge Development is one of several distinguished awards presented by BAM to celebrate outstanding achievement and service within the academic and professional management community.
The BAM Awards Committee praised Professor Molthan-Hill for her leadership in integrating urgent global challenges, such as the transition to a low-carbon future, into management education. Her influential publications, including 'The Handbook of Carbon Management' and 'Sustainable Management', are widely used in institutions around the world.
As Co-Chair of the UN PRME Working Group on Climate Change, Professor Molthan-Hill regularly delivers Climate Literacy Training to academics from over 100 countries. These sessions are offered in collaboration with UN PRME and QS Impact.
At Nottingham Business School, she is equally committed to empowering students with the skills and mindset to become transformative leaders. Her work is embedded in programmes such as the MSc Management (Sustainable Leadership), which launches every September.
The award was formally presented during the Virtual Day Opening of the BAM Annual Conference on Monday 1st September, hosted by the University of Kent.
