NTU Ranked 2nd in the World For Sustainability
We have been named the second most sustainable university in the world in the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for the second year running. Over 1,183 institutions have been assessed as part of these rankings, and NTU is the top UK university.
Since 2010, UI GreenMetric has looked at the sustainability credentials of universities across the world, both in terms of their policies and their quantifiable performance against six categories, including setting and infrastructure, education and research, and transportation.

Firework combustion pollutes the environment, disturbing wildlife and ecosystems. Operating for light shows and drones minimises pollution and noise, offering visually stunning and programmable displays. NTU's collaboration during Green Week 2023 showcased innovative light displays, promoting inclusivity and sustainability.

East Midlands Consortium Powers Up Green Retrofit Skills Initiative
The Centre for Sustainable Construction and Retrofit proudly joins the East Midlands Region Consortium for a Retrofit Skills Accelerator. Led by Bolsover District Council, the consortium secured funding from the Midlands NetZero Hub. Their pilot aims to assess the local retrofit skills ecosystem and devise a regional action plan. Focused on scaling solutions for building the retrofit workforce, the key initiative is the development of a green skills retrofit offer and hub. This endeavour signifies a pivotal step towards fostering sustainability in construction practices, ensuring a skilled workforce equipped to meet the challenges of retrofitting for a greener future.

A new report has called on local authorities to meaningfully involve young people in environmental policy after research showed they are feeling over-whelmed and disillusioned.
RIBA-winning Lyth building officially opens
Nottingham Trent University's Lyth building, located on Brackenhurst Campus, is officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, featuring School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences Dean, Professor Dawn Scott, and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Peck. Lyth family members and Evans Vettori architects were in attendance.
