Scholarship and Development Events
Throughout the Academic year we offer our academics and professional services staff the opportunity to attend a number of events in support of their professional development.
TILT Annual Learning & Teaching Conference (ALTC)

The TILT Annual Learning and Teaching Conference (ALTC) is an annual event which showcases innovative practice in learning and teaching, with each year focusing on a different theme.
The ALTC offers the opportunity to meet with colleagues and participate in a dialogue that aims to advance the theories and practices of learning and teaching.
Formerly the Festival of Learning, the ALTC has been a vibrant event with educators engaging in discussions on key, contemporary debates in Learning and Teaching in the Higher Education sector.
The ALTC is held as a conference and hosts at least one keynote speaker with an expertise in the year’s chosen Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) theme and offers a variety of sessions that delegates can select according to their interests.
The ALTC aims to be a friendly and inclusive space where ideas can be shared, discussed and challenged in an effort to enhance the theories and practices of learning and teaching.
TILT Course Leaders’ Conference
The TILT Course Leaders’ Conference provides a great opportunity for existing, new or aspiring course leaders from across the institution to come together and explore the role, share ideas, support peers and gain practical skills. Colleagues from Professional Services also contribute to the event, providing course leaders with invaluable support and guidance for this crucial role.
TILT Celebration Event
The TILT Celebration event recognises colleagues’ achievements and professionalism in learning and teaching in higher education. Including those who have attained Fellowship in one of the 4 Advance HE categories, those who had completed the Academic Professional Apprenticeship (APA) or Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (PGTLHE), and our colleagues who have been selected to be NTU’s nominees for National Teaching Fellowship.
