My name is Scarlett, and I am now in my third year studying English at Nottingham Trent University. My time at NTU has been so enriching, filled with countless opportunities, new friendships, valuable skills, and unforgettable experiences.
My passion for literature has grown with each year of study, however the cost of buying books for both my academic and personal reading can be expensive. The bursary has allowed me to cover the cost of all reading materials without compromising other living expenses, my wellbeing, or participating in student life. This financial support has helped me maintain a healthy balance between academic demands and personal enjoyment while at university.
Over the past year, I have begun going to the NTU gym daily and use exercise to de-stress and focus on my goals, especially as I begin writing my dissertation. The gym has become a vital outlet for me where I can maintain my mental and physical health during this busy period. Over the university break, I plan to use the bursary to fund a temporary membership at my local gym, ensuring that I can continue this routine while at home.
As a final-year student, I am in the process of applying for graduate jobs across the UK, many roles requiring in-person interviews. Without the bursary, travel costs would be a significant barrier for me, therefore knowing that I can cover these expenses allows me to approach such opportunities confidently without financial anxiety.
