Make a difference to the lives of young people

Students in Classrooms schemes provide a range of support for children and young people in schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County. As a positive role model, you will enhance pupil attainment and personal development, whilst increasing an awareness of higher education and the opportunities it can offer.

Primary Learning Advocates

Primary Learning Advocates support primary school pupils with their attainment and engagement with learning.

Literacy Achievement Coaches

Literacy Achievement Coaches support secondary school pupils with their attainment and engagement with learning.

Key Dates for Applications

Applications

  • Applications open: Friday 11 September, 12.01 am
  • Applications close: Sunday 4 October, 11.59 pm

Assessment Centres

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend one in-person assessment centre at NTU City Campus. Please note, we cannot offer alternative assessment dates and finish times are approximate.

Available assessment centre dates:

  • Option 1: Sunday 11 October, 9.45 am to 1.15 pm
  • Option 2: Wednesday 14 October, 12.45 pm to 4.15 pm

Training Sessions

If you are offered a role, you must attend two compulsory in-person training sessions at NTU City Campus.

Training Session 1 (choose one date):

  • Saturday 31 October, 10 am to 1 pm
  • Sunday 1 November, 10 am to 1 pm

Training Session 2 (choose one date):

  • Saturday 21 November, 10 am to 1 pm
  • Sunday 22 November, 10 am to 1 pm

Placement Commitment

To take part in this programme, you must:

  • Be available to start during the week commencing 11 January 2027
  • Attend your assigned school once a week for 10 weeks
  • Be available until the expected end date of week commencing 22 March 2027

Please do not apply if you cannot commit to the assessment centre, training sessions, and placement dates above.
