At NTU, we believe that all students should be able to learn and enjoy student life, whatever their personal identity or circumstances.
We know that coming to university without the support of a family can be truly challenging. It's why we work closely with Student Support Services to ensure that students have access to any additional help and support if they need it.
NTU can support care-experienced and estranged students with finding accommodation for the entirety of their studies, including during summer vacation and for early arrivals. We have a dedicated member of staff who will be happy to guide you through the process.

Receiving help with providing a guarantor
To help students find a guarantor, we’ve partnered with Housing Hand, a trusted third-party guarantor service that can help you secure private rented accommodation. NTU and UPP accommodation does not require guarantor information
If you choose to live in private accommodation, you may be asked to provide a UK guarantor. This is someone who agrees to pay your rent if you fall behind. Sometimes, it's not possible to complete a booking for accommodation without providing a guarantor.
We understand that not everyone is able to provide a guarantor. NTU has partnered with Housing Hand, who can act as your guarantor instead. You can apply to Housing Hand as a care leaver or estranged student at NTU.
Please note that if you follow this link, the application will be slightly different. You won’t be asked to provide a co-signature, as NTU will provide that for you. You’ll also receive a discounted rate.
