Open Research

We strive to ensure that the NTU research embodies the values of accessibility, reproducibility, reliability and inclusivity. This impacts the structures, systems and infrastructure we promote as an institution, and the research that we support. For our researchers, this means exploring a diverse range of Open Research principles and practices, providing visible, engaging, and robust research insights.

Our Commitment to Open Research

NTU is committed to facilitating and maintaining a culture of Open Research, unlocking the power of research for real-world change. Our commitment to Open Research is aligned with the priorities of funders, publishers and the expectations of the public through Valuing Ideas, a core principle within our current University strategy, University, reimagined.

The commitments of the University and its researchers to Open Research are outlined in NTU’s Open Research Position Statement, which can be read here in full. These ambitions constitute the University’s vision for Open Research, which is underpinned by a detailed Action Plan. This is overseen by the University Open Research and Research Integrity Committee who have strategic oversight and leadership of open research and research integrity, and the ecosystem which supports them.

Our mission to embed a culture of open research is steered through partnerships between academic, professional services, technical and research staff.

Open Research Awards

To reward and celebrate Open Research practice at NTU, in 2024 NTU launched the Open Research Awards. The awards are designed to recognise any member of NTU staff – academic, technical, professional services, or postgraduate researchers – who demonstrate a commitment to using open research practices in their work.
