Get involved and get active with NTU rugby at Brackenhurst.

Join our Rugby Union (Brackenhurst) club

If you're looking for a physical team sport, rugby is the perfect answer for you! Enjoy the fitness of the training, the competitiveness of matches, and the friendliness of a large team all included in one sport.

We train and play at the Southwell rugby club pitches and organise various events in collaboration with other sport teams based at Brackenhurst, to give you a jump start on making new friends during your time at University.

No previous experience is required so anyone can enjoy rugby sessions.

As part of the BUCS tournament, Brackenhurst rugby team members can enjoy a large number of matches competing against other universities and clubs. All matches will take place on a Wednesday. We're coming off the back of a strong year after securing a BUCS silver medal last season, and we're looking to achieve even more this year!

NTU Rugby offers regular games in organised leagues across the University. Enter your own team into the league or we can allocate you a team. These leagues offer weekly fixtures during term time, coordinated by NTU Sport staff and officiated by qualified match officials.

No NTU Sport membership is required. You simply pay the weekly fee each time you play.

How to join

Please contact the club through social media for more information or see them at the Brackenhurst Fresher's Fair.

We would advise to join the club in the beginning of the year after the taster session but don’t worry, you can join at any time during the year.

If you decide to join the team, you’ll be able to buy the NTU’s shorts, socks, and tie. The university provides us with match shirts.

Members are required to have their own boots, mouth guards, and any other equipment they might need such as training clothes.

We also run a Play4Fun every Sunday where anyone can join for a rugby experience.

Memberships purchased at any point during the academic year are only valid until the end of term 3.
