NTU Women's Rugby is a club that prides itself on a friendly and inviting atmosphere whilst giving each member the opportunity to reach their full potential. We field teams 2 teams in BUCS and cater from all abilities from newcomers to the most experienced players.
We’ve all watched it on TV; why not get involved? It’s all about the team. Positions for every individual, regardless of shape, size and experience. We’re one of the most welcoming clubs, who provide a great stress relief and an opportunity to make life-long friends along the way. We cater for both experienced players and newcomers to the sport, through our varying teams.
Represent
Rugby is a full-contact sport; however, safety precautions are taken to ensure everyone's safety. You will be playing alongside others of a similar ability, which ensures a gradual introduction into the sport. We are currently fielding two teams in the BUCS league and 1 team in BUCS 7s and we also compete in cup games also throughout the season. We train as one group, however during specific drills we split according to your own judgement of your ability preventing a divide forming between the first and second teams.
Our team receive weekly strength and conditioning provided through the NTU Fitness Team and all BUCS players can access Physio at a discounted rate.
Training takes place at West Bridgford RFC on Monday evenings.
Our University rugby activator is Ben Edah.
How to join
A taster session will run in Freshers’ week for anyone interested in Rugby- see our social media pages for details or find us at the Freshers’ sport fair if you want a chat. Furthermore, we also aim to run RFU Inner warrior taster sessions each term for girls who want to try out rugby.
If there are no upcoming taster events, don’t hesitate to get in contact and come to our training sessions held every Monday during the season- everyone is welcome.
Membership costs £124 for freshers and £99 for returners. Memberships purchased at any point during the academic year are only valid until the end of term 3.
Gum shields and boots will be required throughout the season and NTU rugby shorts and socks can be bought at Lee Westwood sport centre in Clifton.
Compete
NTU Rugby offers regular games in organised leagues across the University. Enter your own team into the league or we can allocate you a team. These leagues offer weekly fixtures during term time, coordinated by NTU Sport staff and officiated by qualified match officials.
No NTU Sport membership is required. You simply pay the weekly fee each time you play.
