Fitness. Self Defence. Flexibility. Strength. All of these can be improved greatly through Taekwondo. Take part in this Olympic recognised sport and learn something new. Formerly used by the Korean military, Taekwondo is an exciting, physically challenging and rewarding martial art.

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, characterised by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping & spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Beginners start at a white belt (10th Kup) and can progress through their time at university through the Kup grades and black belts, with the right commitment and discipline.

There is the potential to compete in regional and national competitions. We are part of the Kang Han Taekwondo club in Hucknall, overseen by Chief Instructor Grandmaster Ian Lennox, 8th Dan. Students can attend the Autumn, Winter & Spring national British Student Taekwondo Federation tournaments, as well as competitions that Kang Han takes part in.

If you don't want to compete or grade, Taekwondo is a great sport to improve fitness & flexibility and can be done purely for fun!

Training takes place on the Clifton Campus.

Our head coach is Nottingham Trent alumni, Ashley Miller, who is a second dan black belt and an experienced instructor. Additional training at Hucknall is undertaken by several black belt instructors and Grandmaster Lennox (8th Dan).
