Burlesque

Welcome to Trent Tigerlilies!

    Burlesque is a cabaret style of dancing that includes (always optional) strip teases. It’s all about empowering you to feel good in your body, regardless of shape, size, ability or gender. The Trent Tigerlilies are an inclusive group of strong, positive and uplifting individuals of all dance abilities - you don’t need to have any dance experience to join and we don’t hold auditions! We all learn and grow together.

    Represent

    Join us to learn a variety of routines including traditional burlesque, sassy and rocky numbers. Learn how to freestyle and techniques such as glove and stocking peeling, performing with an amazing group of people whilst watching your confidence rocket!

    Three times a year we put on a fantastic show to show off our hardworking and stunning dancers! These fall around Christmas, Valentines and our big May show and are always optional to participate in so no worries if you’d rather keep the dancing to classes.

    We are coached by Nottingham Dance and Fitness with our training schedule being:

    Tuesdays: 20:00pm-21:00pm in the City Campus SU Dance Studio
    Wednesdays: 18:00pm-19:00pm in the City Campus SU Dance Studio
    Thursdays: 18:00pm-19:00pm in the City Campus SU Dance Studio

    How to join

    We hold taster sessions at the beginning of every academic year to allow you to try burlesque out with no commitment to the club. We’ll get into some warmups and short routines, some classic burlesque moves and maybe even some props (think extravagant fans, boas etc)! If you miss these sessions or take a while to decide whether burlesque is for you, you can join at any point throughout the academic year.

    Don’t worry about what to wear to classes - wear whatever you’re most comfortable in that you can move about in: T shirts, leggings, shorts, joggers, workout gear etc. For our shows, most costuming is provided however we will ask that you provide yourself with items we don’t share, for example lingerie, high heels, jewellery.

    Memberships purchased at any point during the academic year are only valid until the end of term 3.
