Thai Boxing or Muay Thai is a striking martial art that uses punches, kicks, knees, and elbows and is the most common form of stand-up striking used in MMA. Thai Boxing is excellent for fitness, weight loss goals, and self-confidence and is one of the best forms of self-defence training around. We welcome members of any ability, experience, or gender, and we promote a friendly welcoming atmosphere with no pressure to compete or fight if you don’t want to.

At NTU Thai Boxing - you’ll punch, kick, and knee – in practice one of the best forms of self-defence training around. Voted as the most improved NTU club of 2018, Nottingham Trent University Thai Boxing club is one of the largest martial arts clubs in the university with over 150 members and one of the best coaches in the UK.

Represent

As a club, we offer opportunities throughout the year to take part in light-contact non-decided events and full-contact decision events. There is never any pressure to compete, and members are more than welcome to train just for fitness. We aim to attend 6 to 9 events across the country in the academic year so there are plenty of opportunities.

Our showcase event is the Varsity event which has run for 3 years now. Here, we fight our rivals at the University of Nottingham in full-contact fights which have been won by ourselves for 3 years. This event has been run in front of crowds of 600+ people and is open to anyone to join! NTU Thai Boxing is currently the champion of this event with 3 overall event wins to the University of Nottingham’s 0.

Training takes place at City Sports Hall where we have a variety of equipment including gloves, shin guards, pads, body shields, and skipping ropes meaning you do not need to buy your own equipment until you’re ready. We also train at Sor Chang Kow Gym (Kirkby in Ashfield) involving training and sparring sessions holding the equipment including bags, mats, and rings.
