NTU’s ever growing Table Tennis Society is one of the highest scoring BUCS performance sports for NTU. With a wide range of players from our scholar programme, performance players and other squad members joining each year. We also offer more relaxed sessions and social events on top of the weekly training and coaching opportunities.
NTU has one of the best university programmes in the country for Table Tennis, currently consisting of 5 scholars, a performance squad, with 7 teams participating in the BUCS Leagues. In addition to BUCS, Trent has access to extra training opportunities to play alongside, train with members from Nottingham Sycamore Table Tennis Academy based at Carlton Lee Willows Table Tennis Centre. Furthermore, we also give our players the chances to play in local league and British League event.
We also participate in the Varsity series against the University of Nottingham. As well as the squad sessions and coaching, we also run social sessions where non-members can meet new people and play more casually.
Our Men’s 1st team have yet again qualified for the European University Games, they will be representing NTU in Italy this year.
I joined NTU in 2019, I have played Table Tennis for 8 years and I decided to continue and improve at NTU. A fun fact about myself is that I am a YouTuber. We won our division this year so I will awaiting the challenges in the next academic year. The players and staff really offered me a warm welcome and made sure that I was comfortable whilst settling into University as well as my Table Tennis.
I highly recommended to everyone looking to pick up something new or to continue on your Table Tennis journey. Being part of the NTU Table Tennis team has been a great experience. The coaching available is useful to people of all standards, whether they are a beginner or play nationally.
Each player benefits from the training. Members of the Club and are friendly and welcoming. Everyone supports one another especially when we have BUCS championships, the Trent bench encourages their team mates. It is very sociable, with our social night on Wednesdays after our matches which is a good night out.
At NTU Table Tennis we aim to provide something for all abilities and levels. There are training sessions provided for players from beginner too advanced. We also compete in BUCS and have many teams that do so. Also Varsity where we take on the University of Nottingham. We are a fast growing club, always looking for new members.

Progressing into 2019-20, NTU is hoping to have 5 Men’s and 3 Women’s teams, all to be playing in various BUCS Leagues.
