Men’s Table Tennis 1sts demolish Newcastle in top of the table clash! – BUCS Week 11

The cold weather meant the majority of outdoor fixtures were cancelled. But there was some action both home and away for many of our indoor sports.

Our men’s Table Tennis 1^st team had a crucial Premier North fixture against the University of Newcastle men’s 1^st team. These two teams were level on points before this fixture and looking to secure 2^nd place in the league. Following the strong showing at the Individual Championships, the team started well, opening an early lead. They didn’t relent and came away with a convincing 15-2 victory.

Also at Clifton the men’s Volleyball 2^nd team faced De Montfort University men’s 2^nd team, looking to kick start the second half of their season. They certainly started this year in style, coming out 3-0 winners.

Next door in the sports centre, the men’s Badminton 2^nd team faced University of Leicester men’s 1^st team in an important fixture for securing their league status. The game was a tight affair. However this time round the NTU team proved to strong and a clean sweep followed, 8-0 was the final result.

Finally, one outdoor game that did manage to avoid cancellation was American football. The NTU Renegades played on Sunday against Coventry University, and despite some tough conditions, produced a huge 56-0 victory over the University of Staffordshire.
