Role
Abi leads the second year Developing Paramedic Practice module, which provides student paramedics with clinical assessment and treatment skills and develops clinical decision-making through reflective practice and practical learning.
Alongside module leadership and teaching on this module, Abi supports delivery of teaching and assessment across other modules in the Paramedic Science courses, and is particularly interested in clinical reasoning, practice-based education, and transformational learning.
Career overview
Abi joined the team in 2025 on a part-time basis. Prior to this, Abi worked in an NHS Ambulance Service for six years, initially as an Ambulance Technician before undertaking the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree and registering with the HCPC in 2024.
Before this, Abi worked in care and in a GP dispensary, and originally undertook a BA (Hons) English degree – quite the convoluted journey to the clinical and educational role she now so enjoys.
External activity
Abi remains an operational Paramedic alongside her lecturing role, working two shifts a week on NHS ambulances. She is also studying MSc Paramedic: Practice Development, and is part of The Confident Paramedic team.
