More about Edward

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

I enjoyed my Music Production Undergraduate degree but I felt like I was only getting into my stride in third year and this course seemed like a good extension for me to keep working in the same workflow.

What's your favourite thing about your course?

I love how for this course our tutor’s only priority is the people on this course. Not only are they a great tutor but they are also great at giving personalised advice for any questions we have.

How have you found the course facilities?

I prefer to compose and record at home in my own pace without time limits but when it comes to mixing its great to have professionally built spaces that my mixes can be finely tuned in. Its also been great to use synthesisers and mics that I could otherwise only look at longingly on eBay.

What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?

Inclusive, hilly and interesting

What do you think of the creative and cultural scene in Nottingham? Is Nottingham a good city for an Art & Design student?

I am not a particularly social person so I don’t frequently go out for nights out or common student past times. However in terms of places for finding and buying useful material, books, albums, films etc. Its fantastic.

Where would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?

Fop, Rough Trade, HMV, CEX, Waterstones for media purchase. Venues wise: Rough Trade, JT Soar, Bodega, Metronome.

If you could give new students some advice, what would it be?

Go to the library just to explore and find random things of interest.

What do you think of the course staff?

All of them are lovely.

Have you used any of the student support services or NTU’s Employabiliy team? How have you found this experience?

The library support services are fantastic for helping structure dissertations and research projects.

What’s next for you after NTU?

I intend to keep working with the filmmakers and creatives I have known before and met at NTU and will keep building up my repertoire of skills.

Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?

Yes, they have shown me the importance of having a professional portfolio.

Still need help?
